"Summer MEDIA Studio" aims to train young filmmakers. Over the years, the workshop has developed a good structure for intensive training: two-week workshop includes theoretical part - lectures taught by internationally renowned professionals, and practical part - filming in international crews. The workshop gives an opportunity for students to improve professional and personal skills, expand their vision, learn new ways of doing, and uncover talents.
The project is being coordinated by the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre with the support of the MEDIA Programme of the European Community. Project pedagogical and financial partners - Helsinki Polytechnic STADIA (Finland), the Baltic and Media School (Estonia), the National Academy for Theatre & Film Arts (Bulgaria) contributes to the development of the concept and the training activities of the "Summer MEDIA Studio".

- How to tell the story within visual tools of the film
- What is the position of the visual solutions in script writing process
- How to find a visual way of expression in the script developing process
- How to use your experience to make the script more visual
- What happens when you say "action"
- How to create the behavioural energy of matter and humans
The activities at the "Summer MEDIA Studio" are divided into three periods:
- 4 days of intensive seminars & workshops; script developing within 10 international crews; the 1st draft of the short film script shall be made over this period under guidance of tutors; pitching.
- 4 days devoted to the practical work. The implementation of the developed scripts by filming in international crews (rehearsals, blocking, shooting scenes).
- The last stage - reconsidering the shot material, final script changes, film editing and consultations with trainers. As a result 10 short video films shall be produced by the crews and presented to the audience, discussed and evaluated.
Participation Fee:Selected applicant shall pay a participation fee of 650 euros, which covers a workshop fee, local travel, hotel accommodation and board (three meals per day). Participant must cover his/her international travel costs as well. All applicants are also highly welcomed to apply for a scholarship (see below).
Scholarships:The SMS organisers offer a number of scholarships to the selected participants (excluding the international travel costs). While applying, applicants should indicate that he/she applies for a scholarship and describe clearly why the financial support is needed.
The consultations and teamwork provided to the international crews by the tutors is a very important part. The scripts will be developed gradually combining the knowledge gained during the seminars, the team consultations, and individually. During the workshop, all the seminars are being filmed and remain as educational material for the partner institutions.
Additionally, the documentary film about "Summer MEDIA Studio" and its educational-creative process is being produced. The documentary film shall be used for the dissemination of good practice and project results.
